One such beautiful, clear, concise verse in “Kambaramayanam” – Thamizh Epic (Written by Thamizh poet Kamban, 12th century) never fails to mesmerize.
சீதையைத் தேடிச் செல்கிறான் அனுமான். இராமனோ இங்கு பதட்டத்தில். பல காத தூரம் சென்று, வென்று வரும் அனுமான். இங்கு இல்லாளைப் பிரிந்து தவிக்கும் இராமன் !
[Hanuman has gone in search of Sita. Anxious Rama waits for Hanuman’s arrival, with a good news about Sita. Hanuman reaches Lanka, finds Sita. He reaches back to the restless Rama.]
வழக்கம் போல இராமனை வணங்கி, பாதம் பற்றி, ஆலிங்கனம் செய்து, "நான் இங்கிருந்து புறப்பட்டேனா? ... சென்று கொண்டே இருந்தேன் !!!", என கதையளந்திருக்கலாம். ஆனால் அனுமன் என்ன செய்தான்? சமுத்திரத்தை நோக்கி, தென் திசை பார்த்து வணங்குகிறான். இராமனுக்கு பாதி துயரம் குறைந்தது. அனுமன் சீதை இருக்குமிடம் அறிந்தான் எனக் கண்டு கொண்டான். சீதை நலமோடு உள்ளாள் - இராமன் ஐயம் தீர்ந்தது.
[As a practice, Hanuman could have conveyed his wish to Rama and then he could have started, “I started from here, and do you know what happened on the way? Etc.” But he did not. He turned towards the ocean at the South, raised his hands and paid his salutation. Rama got rid of his major reason for worrying. “Sita is alive and fine. Path to her existence is this ocean”.]
எய்தினன் அனுமனும்; எய்தி, ஏந்தல் தன்
மொய்கழல் தொழுகிலன்; முளரி நீங்கிய
தையலை நோக்கிய தலையன், கை கொடு
வையகம் தழீஇ நெடிது இறைஞ்சி வாழ்த்தினான்.
விளக்கங்கள் கேட்டு இராமன் வாய் திறக்கும் முன் அனுமன் உரைக்கிறான்.
[Before Rama asks any question, Hanuman tells,]
“கண்டனென் கற்பினுக்கு அணியை’, கண்களால்
தெண்திரை அலை கடல் இலங்கைத் தென்நகர்;
அண்டர் நாயக! இனி, துறத்தி ஐயமும்
பண்டு உள துயரும்’ என்று அனுமன் பன்னுவான்.”
"நான் கண்களால் கண்டேன். கற்பினுக்குப் பெருமை சேர்க்கும் அணியை! இலங்கை மாநகரில். கவலை களையுங்கள்!".
[I met Sita. She is alive, with her chastity not disturbed. And she is in Lanka which is surrounded by the ocean.]
அனுமன் "சொல்லின் செல்வன்" அல்லவா !!!
[No wonder Hanuman is praised as “Sollin Selvan” – meaning, the one with a wealth of words. ]
